Why Templates Are Not a Strategy

A beautiful template can make a website look professional in an afternoon, and there is nothing wrong with starting there. But a template is a starting point, not a finished strategy. Two businesses can use the same theme and get completely different results, because the difference is never the theme.

What a template cannot do

A template will not write your value proposition, understand your audience, or decide which page should convert. Those decisions come from strategy: knowing who you serve, what they need, and what action you want them to take. Without that thinking, even the most polished template is just decoration.

Build on the foundation

Use a template to move quickly, then customize it to fit your message and your customers. Replace generic sections with specific ones, and tune the flow toward a single clear goal. The best websites are not the ones with the fanciest theme; they are the ones built on clear thinking.
