There is an old saying that design is how something works, and the web proves it constantly. A page can be visually gorgeous and still fail completely if the visitor cannot find what they need. Beauty is important, but it is not the goal. The goal is an experience that works so well the design feels invisible.
Function first, beauty second
Start by understanding the journey the visitor needs to complete. What are they looking for, and what should happen next? Build a clear path first, then make it attractive. When function comes first, the beauty you add supports the experience instead of hiding its flaws.
Good design disappears
The best-designed sites are the ones you use without noticing. Buttons are where you expect them, text is easy to read, and nothing gets in the way. That ease is the result of careful decisions, not luck. When design works, it earns trust by never making the visitor think about it at all.
